Karyl Walter, RYT-200
I had always been active: basketball, softball, racketball, tennis, aerobics, Jazzercize, etc., but also have scoliosis and knee injuries. So as the years and wear-and-tear added on, I needed to find something that helped keep me in shape but wasn’t so hard on my joints.
At first I wasn’t sure yoga would be for me, but after attending a few classes, I realized that yoga was exactly what I needed. I began to practice frequently and also took my 200 Hour Teacher Training with Jacqueline Chiodo at Joyful Yoga.
Guiding students in my Gentle Yoga class who are new to yoga or recovering from an injury or illness has been wonderful. Experienced yogis also attend frequently, which is so gratifying. We all need to find an inner calm and move through poses at a slower, steady pace from time to time.
