Passive Stretch

This workshop is designed for everyone, especially those experiencing pain, discomfort, or limited movement. Miriam will guide you through passive stretches, each of which is held for several minutes, allowing tight muscles to release slowly. As the muscles release, blood flows to those areas more easily and joints start to open. These are the natural steps to healing complex injuries, trauma, stiffness and pain.

The summer series of workshops will emphasize an integrated approach, working with both the upper and the lower body in each session. Modifications of each pose is always available for those with limited movement. Prior yoga experience is not required for these healing postures. For those already practicing yoga asana, you will experience more comfort and ease in your traditional yoga postures. And, you will be astounded by how much your energy level will soar!

Miriam has been a student of Iyengar Yoga for more than 30 years. She is the best-selling author of three yoga books and one meditation book. She has also studied the Kaiut Method extensively,which is the origin of this passive stretch method.

Pop-Up Buti Yoga: Buti Fire

Join Emily for a sweaty warm Buti Yoga practice! The room will be heated to approximately 85 to 90 degrees and the class will focus less on HIIT/cardio and instead she will offer lots of spirals and deep core engagement. It will be just as dancie and fun as usual. Lets burn baby burn!

The word comes from the Marathi Indian culture and it means “a cure that has been hidden or kept secret.”
The Buti Yoga philosophy is that every woman has the power to transform and heal her body from within.
Buti Yoga focuses on activating the Spiral Structure of the core to engage the deep abdominal muscles and stimulate the endocrine system.
Come experience this dynamic asana practice fused with primal movement, tribal dance and deep core engagement.
This is a challenging class with loud music and you will sweat and have fun but work hard. Bring a towel and water.

Intro To Yoga

Join JoAnn for this free one hour introduction to yoga. Learn the purpose and benefits of a Yoga practice as well as the value of using the breath to reduce anxiety, re-energize and improve concentration.
This workshop will acquaint you with the classes offered at Joyful Yoga and help you find the perfect fit for you, your body and your breath. There will be some movement offered that may be done from either a chair or a floor mat. Let yoga meet you where you are!
If you are curious about yoga and not sure where or how to start, this workshop is for you! If you already have a practice but know someone who might benefit from yoga, bring them along.
